As the controversy over Navjot Singh Sidhu appearing on a television show snowballed, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh said on Wednesday that if his portfolio of Culture was found in conflict with his television work, it could be changed.Capt. Amarinder Singh said he had no objection to Mr. Sidhu continuing television shows if it was constitutionally permissible. “Mr. Sidhu is a sensible and intelligent person, and he would have checked out his legal and constitutional position…,” he told reporters in New Delhi after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Since I’m not aware of the constitutional position, I will wait for the Advocate-General’s opinion,” he said.The row erupted after Mr. Sidhu said recently that he would continue to appear on a TV show as a celebrity judge and this would not affect his official work. At a separate meeting, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely assured the Chief Minister that he would direct the RBI to ensure that all arrangements were in place in the State by March 25 for wheat procurement, which will start on April 1.
